TOURING IN THE SUN
Straight of the heels of touring with Mercury Rev in Portugal for the Primavera Sound Festival, I dove straight into the dry heat of Espanola, New Mexico. There along with Harijiwan and Simrit Kaur I performed at the Summer Solstice Sadhana Celebration; a gathering of over 2,000 yogis practicing Kundalini Yoga. What’s more, I added another show with The Rev in Madrid to the mix...

RECORDING HARIJIWAN PLAYING TWO GONGS
In January I embarked on a unique endeavor to record Harijiwan playing two Gongs simultaneously. We made the recording in Woodstock, NY on one 60” Paiste symphonic & one 60” Paiste sound creation Gong. Capturing the sound comprised an eight microphone set up three of which were in a Decca Tree configuration. All mics were passed through a vintage (and quite rare) 16 channel Harrison mic preamp then fed into Pro Tools. Stay tuned for release date information on this uniquely meditative & healing recording.

MIXING THE NEW SINGLE FROM TOM HOWIE
Journalists and bloggers were recently given a sneak preview of Tom Howie's new single"Stepping Stones" that is scheduled for release early next year. The track was mixed by Carlos Anthony Molina of Mercury Rev and recorded at Avatar Studios in New York. “Stepping Stones” is approved for posting and sharing and that's the only way anyone can get the track before its release in 2011. TOURING INDIA WITH HURRICANE BELLS
Hurricane Bells is a new project from Steve Schiltz, singer & guitarist of Longwave. Vagrant Records released Tonight Is The Ghost in November 2009 when the b-side track “Monsters” was added to the Twilight Saga, New Moon soundtrack. Since then I’ve remixed the tracks “Monsters” and “The Winters In New York” for the band. On the upcoming tour of India I’ll be on Bass. See our dates below.

After some time now Robin Proper-Sheppard (God Machine) and I are collaborating once again. I'll be joining his band Sophia on tour throughout Europe this month.
It was back in 1998 when Robin came into the Brooklyn, NY rehearsal space of my band Blanco. With my brother Jason Molina (Longwave) on drums he produced & mixed 3 tracks that would make it on to our self-released Carnival e.p.

PRODUCING SAN FRANCISCO BAND MY FIRST EARTHQUAKE IN OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA
In February My First Earthquake & I embarked on the band’s debut full-length album Downstairs. Recorded at The Gold Mine in Oakland, CA. & mastered by Carl Saff in Chicago the 10 song album is scheduled for release on June 20, 2009.

MIRACLE LEGION TRIBUTE BY MERCURY REV
Mercury Rev has just finished a track co-produced & mixed by yours truly for an upcoming tribute to the great band Miracle Legion & their singer Mark Mulcahy. Due out Sept. 29 on Shout! Factory, Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy will feature 21 songs on CD. The song Sailors & Animals features Mike Merenda on vocals was recorded at Humble Abode Studio. The album features artists such as Michael Stipe of R.E.M., Thom Yorke of Radiohead, J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., Juliana Hatfield as well as Josh Rouse, Elf Power, Syd Straw, Ted Leo, AC Newman of the New Pornagraphers, Frank Black of the Pixies, Elvis Perkins, Ween & many others. This benefit compilation is to come out at some point in 2009.

MERCURY REV "BUTTERFLY’S WING" (CARLOS ANTHONY MOLINA ~4 ON THE FLUX REMIX)
Accompanying Mercury Rev's recent 'Snowflake Midnight' LP, is this remix package with revised versions of album tracks from Fujiya & Miyagi, James Holden, Isan & Carlos Anthony Molina. F & M's version of 'Senses on Fire' is a confident Neu-lite krautrock revision in their revered style, while Holden opts to take it in a dreamy neu-Trance direction with lovely results. Isan shape 'Butterfly's Wing' on the flip into an ornately detailed thing of beauty, leaving room for Carlos Anthony Molina's "4 On The Flux" remix to clear a path with a required dancefloor version beefed up with zipping electro synths and top-of-the-range production. 12" Vinyl versions of these re-mixes are available in select UK record shops now.
